Property Extensions
Planning permission is not required for many extensions now; single-storey rear extensions must generally not extend back more than 8 metres for a detached house and 6 metres for any other house. There are special rules for special locations limiting the distances to 4 and 3 metres and it is subject to the Neighbour Consultation Scheme whereby the Local Planning Authority is notified via a Prior Approval Application. As ever proper advice should be sought beforehand .
